Meet our friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced staff
At Main Graphics, we believe our staff is what sets us apart from other printing and design companies in the region. Each of our staff members has lived in Urbana for more than 25 years and three are graduates of Champaign County schools. In addition, our staff members have a combined 20 years of post-secondary schooling in art, design, and marketing. Our aspiration as a company is to reinvest this knowledge and experience into the Champaign County community.
Sarah Thornton - Manager & Designer
Sarah is the business manager and primary graphic designer at Main Graphics. Specializing in logo and packaging design, Sarah has an advanced skill in Adobe Creative Suite CC, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Sarah graduated from the School of Advertising Art in Dayton in 2010 with an associate's degree in Applied Business in Advertising Art. At graduation, Sarah was awarded the SAA Degree of Excellence for her skill and ability in graphic design and art. Before coming to Main Graphics in 2012, Sarah interned as a graphic designer at East Point Group in Dayton and worked at Hafenbrack Marketing.
A native of Champaign County, Sarah supports and volunteers for many local programs. She is a member of Monument Square District and serves as a co-chair for Art Affair on the Square. Sarah is also a trustee for the Champaign County Arts Council and teaches painting classes at Olde Scioto House of Design.
Aaron Dobyns - Project & Design Assistant
Aaron assists Sarah in day-to-day production and customer service at Main Graphics. After graduating from Graham High School in 2006, Aaron attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. At CCAD, Aaron worked in the Kinney Hall ceramics lab making clay and maintaining the equipment. He earned his bachelor's degree in fine arts in 2010 with a specialization in oil painting. Following graduation, Aaron hosted a fine arts show at the Champaign County Arts Council to display his skill in multiple painting mediums. Aaron joined Main Graphics in 2012.
Cassaundra Dietrich - Marketing & Communications
Cassaundra manages internal marketing and communications for Main Graphics, including advertising and digital media. Specializing in publication layout and branding, Cassaundra has advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite CC, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. She earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural communication from The Ohio State University in 2009. While in school, Cassaundra worked as a design assistant for her college's communications and technology department and as a graphic designer for Select Sires, Inc. At graduation, Cassaundra earned both a magna cum laude and honors distinction and received the Top 10 Senior award in her college. She joined Main Graphics in 2009.
Cassaundra began graduate school at The Ohio State University in 2014 and is pursuing a master's degree in agricultural communication. She is currently focusing her studies on marketing and consumer behavior. Cassaundra is also a native of Urbana and currently resides just beyond city limits with her husband and two young children.
Cheryl Bader - Accounting & Business Administration
Cheryl is in charge of human resources and financial administration at Main Graphics. She joined the Main Graphics staff in 2013, bringing with her more than 10 years of accounting experience. Born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, Cheryl is a graduate of Greenon High School and the Springfield-Clark County Joint Vocational School, where she spent two years studying commercial art. Cheryl is proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. She resides in Urbana with her husband and enjoys spending time with her four children and two grandchildren.
Mike Major - Owner & Artist
Mike Major is the owner of Main Graphics and Mike Major Studio in Urbana. Mike and his wife, Jane, a retired speech pathologist, moved to Urbana in 1974. Both Mike and Jane were raised in Ohio and attended Ohio University in Athens. After receiving their bachelor's degrees, the couple moved to New York City so that Mike could pursue his Master's of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute. Upon graduating with his MFA, Mike was selected to be Ohio's first Artist-in-Residence by the Ohio Arts Council. He and Jane returned to Ohio and purchased the abandoned 1877 Universalist Church building in Westville. They renovated the church and converted it to a beautiful home and studio.
Mike opened Main Graphics' doors in 1988 to serve local artists in book publishing, artwork reproductions, and commercial printing. He has remained dedicated to both Urbana and Main Graphics as the company has evolved from offset printing to digital production and computer-based design.
Mike and Jane enjoy spending time with their four children and three grandsons, as well as traveling and spending summers at Indian Lake. They still reside in their renovated church home.
